My Heroes Were Rovers (WT 38)

Published on website.
Two guys, huge overpowered trikes like the Can Am Spider by Bombadier, a metallic interface in their chests, and computer connection to their brains.
Add a duplicitous drug dealer selling MetalCrack, a drug laced with nanomachines, and war games...
In the METAL Folder:
My Heroes Were Rovers

This is the opening, I think.

"You took MetalCrack again." Colby examined the metallic connector covering Skylar's solar plexus.
"No I didn't. It's a dream connector."
"Dream my ass. Nanomachines only form connectors when active. You found a junky with a rig and spent the night outracing cops. Didn't you?" Colby said. Skylar waved his hands, mumbled, started to invent a lie but stopped. He slumped into bed too tired to fight.
"Bit-Boy rigged up a dirt bike in the desert. It's safe, no cops."
"It isn’t safe spending hours wired up to any cycle."
"Each time the nanomachines convert more nerves to metal. You know how this'll end."
"It's not like the big motorcycles or those interface machines that control the city. It's just a little dirt bike, a thousands or so nanos. I only turn metal for a few seconds. And no cops to chase... just me... the machine... metal. I won't crash."

I posted this opening in Nathan Bransford's The Preposterously Magnificent Dialogue Challenge. It's somewhat changed to improve the English

http://nathanbransford.blogspot.com/

His decision will be announced on May 22 or 23. There will be over 300 entries.

I didn't win anything in the contest but then, there were almost 600 entries. I didn't expect to win anything.

It was rather interesting for me to read this post. Thanks for it. I like such topics and anything that is connected to them. I would like to read more on that blog soon.

LMAO..MetalCrack sounds like someone needs to put down the "joysticks" and pick up a "MetalBook" instead. :)

I like stories that are short and to the point.
